Biocompatibility in orthodontics

Yıl 2013, Cilt: 30 Sayı: 2, 110 - 4, 01.07.2013

Öz

The biological compatibility of the orthodontic treatment materials is an important issue because of their close relationship with the mouth epithelial and connective tissues, the teeth and the surrounding bone. Release of metallic ions from these materials to the oral cavity may cause some allergic reactions. Information on the biocompatibility of orthodontic materials have been given in this article and issues that must be considered during treatment period have been discussed.

Ortodontik tedavide kullanılan malzemelerin üretildiği alaşımlar ağız epiteli, bağ dokusu, diş sert dokuları veya kemikle temas halinde oldukları için biyolojik uyumlulukları büyük önem taşımaktadır. Bu malzemelerden ağız ortamına metal iyonlarının salınımı sonucu birçok alerjik reaksiyon gözlemlenebilir. Bu makalede ortodontik tedavide kullanılan malzemelerin biyouyumlulukları ve tedavi sırasında dikkat edilmesi gereken kavramlar hakkında bilgi verilmektedir.
