Plansız ve planlı sokak dokularında kentsel anlaşılabilirlik: Atça örneği

Öz

Bu çalışma; sokak biçimlerinin ve biçimsel değişikliklerinin anlaşılabilirliği nasıl etkilediği üzerine odaklanmaktadır. Çalışma alanı olarak Atça ele alınmaktadır. Atça (Sultanhisar, Aydın) 1926 yılına kadar organik dokulu iken bu tarihten sonra yapılan planlama ile Türkiye’nin ilk ışınsal kentine dönüşmüştür. Çalışmada sokakların biçimsel farklılıkların anlaşılabilirlik düzeylerine etkileri Atça’nın organik ve geometrik dokulu dönem planlarının Mekan Dizimi yöntemi ile analizine bağlı olarak ortaya konmaktadır. Organik ve geometrik dokulu dönem planlarında biçimsel değişiklikler yapılarak yeni hipotetik senaryolar üretilmekte ve bu hipotetik senaryoların anlaşılabilirlik düzeyleri belirlenerek biçimsel değişikliklerin anlaşılabilirlik üzerindeki etkilerinin sınanması sağlanmaktadır. Hipotetik Senaryo 1’de yerleşmelerin ana bağlantısallık eksenleri, Hipotetik Senaryo 2’de yerleşmelerdeki çıkmaz sokaklar değiştirilmektedir. Çalışma sonucunda geometrik dokulu dönem planının organik dokulu dönem planından daha iyi anlaşılabilirlik özelliğine sahip olduğu görülmektedir. Ana bağlantı eksenel çizgilerinde yapılan biçimsel değişikliklerin organik dokulu dönem planının anlaşılabilirliği kuvvetlendirdiğini, geometrik dokulu dönem planının anlaşılabilirliğini zayıflattığını ortaya koymaktadır. Çıkmaz sokaklarla ilgili yapılan biçimsel değişikliklerin organik dokulu dönem planının anlaşılabilirliğini kuvvetlendirdiğini, geometrik dokulu dönem planının anlaşılabilirliğini etkilemediğini göstermektedir. Ana bağlantı eksenel çizgilerinin çıkmaz sokaklardan daha çok anlaşılabilirliği etkilediği görülmektedir. Aynı yerleşim bölgesinin organik ve geometrik dokulu dönem planlarının hipotetik senaryolarla çeşitlendirilerek biçimsel değişikliklerin anlaşılabilirlik üzerindeki etkilerinin sınanmasının çalışmanın öne çıkan özelliklerinden biri olduğu düşünülmektedir.

Urban intelligibility in unplanned and planned street patterns: Atça example

Öz

This study examines how street forms and their changes affect intelligibility in organic and geometric urban patterns. Accordingly, the study applies Space Syntax to the case of Atça. to test formal changes, hypothetical scenarios modifying organic and geometric plans are developed, and their intelligibility levels are assessed. In Hypothetical Scenario 1, the main connectivity axes of the settlements are changed, and in Hypothetical Scenario 2, the dead-end streets in the settlements are changed. The results indicate that the geometric period exhibits higher intelligibility than the organic period. The study reveals that the formal changes made in the main connection axial lines strengthen the intelligibility of the organic patterned period and weaken the intelligibility of the geometric patterned period; it shows that the formal changes made regarding dead-end streets strengthen the intelligibility of the organic patterned period and do not affect the intelligibility of the geometric patterned period. It is seen that main connecting axial lines affect intelligibility more than dead-end streets. Testing the effects of formal changes on intelligibility by diversifying the organic and geometric patterned periods of the same settlement area with hypothetical scenarios is thought to be one of the prominent features of the study.
