In this article the development of the Turkish-European Union economic relations with respect to the process of the full membership is examined. It is found that, there is no problem in the Turkish economy as far as (Copenhagen economic criteria are concerned. However, there are serious problems in the Turkish economy as far as the realization of Maastrich criteria are concerned. It is found that there are potential economic benefits of both sides that can be exploited since the economies of Turkey and the European Union are complementary.In order to realize this potential it is necessary to accelerate the process of the full membership of Turkey. For this both sides should take certain measures that are disscussed in the article.
