The European Union (EU), which says the respect for human rights is the hard core of the Union, has tried to build up its own human rights document drawn up as a charter in the end. This article examines to what extent the EU assesses the Convention and in what way the EU adopts the provisions of the Convention to its own structure. Then the article questions the possible problems that both the EU and the Council of Europe face in case the EU becomes the member of the protection system.
