Development of the Set of Attitude Scales Towards Educational Administration Theories: A Validity and Reliability Study

Öz

This research aimed to develop a data collection tool to evaluate school principals’ attitudes towards educational administration theories. In this context, the study included the vast majority of classical, neoclassical, modern, and postmodern theories of educational administration. The draft scale, completed by 466 school principals administering public primary, secondary, and high schools throughout Türkiye, served as the data set for the pilot study. An Exploratory Factor Analysis was conducted to measure the construct validity of the scales. To validate the structure of the developed scales, a Confirmatory Factor Analysis was carried out using data obtained from 772 school principals working in public primary, secondary, and high schools in Izmir during the 2021-2022 academic year. In addition, the distinctiveness of the scale items was analysed. For the internal consistency of the scales, Cronbach’s alpha coefficients were calculated. For the external reliability of the scales, the test-retest method was used, and the scales were applied face-to-face to 50 participants twice, three weeks apart. As a result, the “Set of Attitude Scales Towards Educational Administration Theories,” consisting of 16 independent subscales, each with one dimension, and a total of 90 items, was determined to be valid and reliable.
