In today's world, where information technologies are developing very rapidly, digital transformation, penetrating all areas of life with the integration of digital technologies into business and social life, has led to the evolution of many processes and structures in business administration. The digital business is founded on the classical business approach and it has gained a new dimension with the ground breaking changes caused by digital transformation. Digital business, which emerged with the digitalization of the basic managerial functions, has brought the concept of digital entrepreneurship to the core with the transformation of traditional entrepreneurship into a digital form. In this study, the definition, characteristics and types of digital business and digital entrepreneurship which became one of the crucial factors of the economy especially in the COVID-19 Pandemic in Turkey, are examined. The study also analyzes the e-commerce shares of SME’s who constitute a very large part of all enterprises in Turkey and predicts that if the SMEs’ digital competence and digital maturity levels are increased, they will acquire more shares from e-commerce. This article is a literature-based one in which suggestions for increasing the digital entrepreneurship levels of SMEs are presented.
