A RESEARCH AIMED AT THE ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITMENT AND JOB SATISFACTION OF MANAGERS WORKING IN TURKISH DRUG INDUSTRY

ABSTRACT
In this study, organizational commitment and job satisfaction concepts which are the subtitles of organizational behavior discipline have been analysed unique to Turkish pharmaceutical industry. Not only in our country but in the whole world, pharmaceutical industry is a sector which has prestige and economical power. In this sector pharmacists and other professionals (ie. business administrators, medical doctors, chemists, biologists, chemistry engineers, economists, etc.) work.
The main aim of this study is to assess the organizational commitment and job satisfaction of personell who are in the management position of drug firms located in Turkey. Also by comparing the results it is aimed to put forth the present situation. In the questionnaire, the following scales are used: Allen Meyer “organizational commitment scale” and Mottaz’s “job satisfaction scale”. This study is done via web, it started by identifying the managers from AİFD (Araştırmacı İlaç Firmaları Derneği- Association of Research-Based Pharmaceutical Companies), İEİS (İlaç Endüstrisi İşverenleri Sendikası- Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Associaiton of Turkey) and TİSD (Türk İlaç Sanayicileri Derneği- Pharmaceutical Industry Association of Turkey). Finally 98 managers participated to the survey. Results of the survey are evaluated by SPSS 15.0.
As an outcome of this study, a positive and significant correlation is found between the organizational commitment and job satisfaction of the managers. In other words, it’s been established that while organizational commitment increases so does the job satisfaction.
