Öz

The development of trade in England in the fourteenth century and the detailed organizational system it revealed are quite interesting. Despite the negativities caused by the Black Death and the Hundred Years War, Edward III's encouragement to wool manufacture was the first step in the growth of English industry. Edward's wool policy guided both his political and military policies.
Analyzing the wool raw material of his country very well, Edward put the trade on the basis of his management according to the conditions of his time. While this situation increased wealth in England, it also strengthened the manor lords. In England, especially after the Black Death, the scarcity of manpower deeply affected agricultural production and provided the development of grassland livestock. This situation enabled Edward to systematize the wool policy. In Edward's wool trade policy, Flanders became England's largest partner. The King of England, who managed to turn the negative conditions he was in into an advantage, was aware that the most valuable power in his hands was “wool". Edward's business acumen not only ensured the prosperity of his time but also laid the foundation for Britain's overseas imperial trade for centuries to come.

İNGİLTERE’NİN YÜN İMPARATORLUĞUNA DÖNÜŞME SÜRECİ: III. EDWARD’IN YÜN POLİTİKASI

Öz

On dördüncü yüzyılda ticaretin İngiltere’deki gelişimi ve ortaya çıkardığı ayrıntılı örgütlenme sistemi oldukça ilgi çekicidir. Kara Ölüm ve Yüzyıl Savaşları’nın neden olduğu olumsuzluklara rağmen, III. Edward’ın yün imalatına verdiği teşvik, İngiliz endüstrisinin büyümesini sağlayan ilk adım olmuştur. Edward’ın yün politikası hem siyasi hem de askeri politikalarını yönlendirmiştir. Edward ülkesinin yün hammaddesini çok iyi analiz edip, döneminin şartları gereği yönetiminin temeline ticareti koymuştur. Bu durum İngiltere’de zenginliği artırırken manor lortlarının da güçlenmesini sağlamıştır. İngiltere’de özellikle Kara Ölüm’den sonra insan gücünün azlığı tarımsal üretimi derinden etkilerken, mera hayvancılığının gelişmesine de katkı sağlamıştır. Bu durum ise Edward’ın yün politikasını sistemleştirmesine yol açmıştır. Edward’ın yün ticareti polikasında Flanders İngiltere’nin en büyük partneri olmuştur. İçinde bulunduğu olumsuz koşulları avantaja çevirmeyi başaran İngiltere Kralı elindeki en değerli gücün “yün” olduğunun farkındadır. Edward’ın bu ticari zekâsı sadece kendi döneminin refahını sağlamakla kalmayıp aynı zamanda gelecek yüzyıllarda İngiltere’nin denizaşırı emperyal ticaretinin de temelini oluşturmuştur.
