Investigation of the relationship between architects' comfort conditions in the working environment and productivity
Abstract
Architects have difficult working conditions due to the profession of architecture. Therefore, architects need to improve the comfort conditions in the working environment to feel physically and psychologically well and to increase their productivity at work. This study aims to examine the relationship between comfort conditions and productivity of architects working in Bursa and to identify the relationship between them. Accordingly, a survey was conducted with 203 architects in Bursa. When the comfort conditions of architects were examined, it was seen that they were satisfied with artificial lighting, indoor temperature and air quality, natural ventilation, absence of bad odors, seat ergonomics and equipment adequacy. The productivity of architects is affected by the workplace's attitude to employees, status, facilities and sensitivity to problems, leave, working hours, appreciation, fairness of wages, wage level, expression of ideas and equipment sub-factors. When the relationship between productivity and comfort conditions in the working environment is examined, the fact that the correlation coefficients are in the range of 0-0.50 reveals the importance of comfort conditions for the business and employees. As a result of the research, it was seen that the factors determining the comfort conditions of architects are effective in the productivity of employees.
