Digitalization and Migration: The Effects of Technological Transformation on Migrant Integration

Öz

The study comprehensively examines the effects of digitalization on migration processes and migrants. The role of digital technologies in migrants' access to information, communication, and integration processes has been analyzed in detail. The study evaluates the effects of digitalization on migrants' identity, privacy, and social integration using literature review and conceptual analysis methods. The findings indicate that digitalization presents both opportunities and challenges for migrants. Notably, the negative impacts of the digital divide and technological inequalities on migrants are highlighted. Integrating digital technologies into migrants' daily lives, economic activities, and social relationships results in psychological and social outcomes. In this process, migrants' levels of digital literacy and technological access directly affect their integration processes.
Additionally, it has been found that while digitalization increases migrants' access to economic opportunities, it also brings the risk of social exclusion due to digital inequalities. The ability of migrants to access information more quickly through digital platforms facilitates their integration into the new society, while it poses a barrier for those lacking digital skills. Consequently, it is emphasized that digitalization holds significant opportunities and risks for migrants, with important implications for migration policies and practices. In this context, policymakers need to make the best use of the opportunities offered by digitalization and minimize the challenges migrants face. The study provides an essential resource for understanding the effects of digitalization on migrants and developing more effective policies in this area. Furthermore, it is noted that digitalization can contribute to the social integration processes of migrants, but the digital inequalities encountered in this process need to be addressed. Increasing digital literacy and expanding technological access can enable migrants to participate more effectively in society.

Dijitalleşme ve Göç: Teknolojik Dönüşümün Göçmen Uyumu Üzerindeki Etkileri

Öz

Çalışma, dijitalleşmenin göç süreçleri ve göçmenler üzerindeki etkilerini kapsamlı bir şekilde incelemektir. Dijital teknolojilerin, göçmenlerin bilgiye erişim, iletişim ve uyum süreçlerindeki rolü detaylı bir şekilde analiz edilmiştir. Çalışmada, literatür taraması ve kavramsal analiz yöntemleri kullanılarak, dijitalleşmenin göçmenlerin kimlik, gizlilik ve sosyal uyum üzerindeki etkileri değerlendirilmiştir. Bulgular, dijitalleşmenin göçmenler için hem fırsatlar hem de zorluklar sunduğunu göstermektedir. Özellikle dijital uçurum ve teknolojik eşitsizliklerin, göçmenler üzerindeki olumsuz etkileri dikkat çekmektedir. Dijital teknolojilerin, göçmenlerin günlük yaşamlarına, ekonomik faaliyetlerine ve sosyal ilişkilerine entegrasyonu, psikolojik ve sosyal sonuçlar doğurmaktadır. Bu süreçte, göçmenlerin dijital okuryazarlık düzeyleri ve teknolojik erişim imkanları, uyum süreçlerini doğrudan etkilemektedir. Ayrıca, dijitalleşmenin göçmenlerin ekonomik fırsatlara erişimini artırdığı, ancak aynı zamanda dijital eşitsizliklerin sosyal dışlanma riskini de beraberinde getirdiği tespit edilmiştir. Göçmenlerin dijital platformlar aracılığıyla bilgiye daha hızlı erişebilmesi, onların yeni topluma entegrasyonunu kolaylaştırırken, dijital becerilere sahip olmayanlar için bu durum bir engel teşkil etmektedir. Sonuç olarak, dijitalleşmenin göçmenler için önemli fırsatlar ve riskler barındırdığı, bu durumun göç politikaları ve uygulamaları üzerinde önemli etkileri olduğu vurgulanmaktadır. Bu bağlamda, politika yapıcıların, dijitalleşmenin sunduğu fırsatları en iyi şekilde değerlendirmesi ve göçmenlerin karşılaştığı zorlukları minimize etmesi gerekmektedir. Çalışma, dijitalleşmenin göçmenler üzerindeki etkilerini anlamak ve bu alanda daha etkili politikalar geliştirmek için önemli bir kaynak sunmaktadır. Ayrıca, dijitalleşmenin göçmenlerin sosyal entegrasyon süreçlerine katkıda bulunabileceği, ancak bu süreçte karşılaşılan dijital eşitsizliklerin giderilmesi gerektiği de belirtilmektedir. Bu kapsamda, dijital okuryazarlığın artırılması ve teknolojik erişimin yaygınlaştırılması, göçmenlerin topluma daha etkin bir şekilde katılımını sağlayabilir.
