In many countries of the world, complementary medicine is used as a treatment in mental health diseases. The mechanism of its action is similar to that of antidepressants, but the lack of
side effects leads to more interest in complementary medicines day by day. The purpose of this article is the collection and compilation of the data obtained from the literature studies on the
treatment of depression with St. John's wort. In this context, 29 articles have been examined by using Science Direct, Pubmed and Google Scholar databases and international journals and
publications on the effects of John’s wort on depression have been compiled. When the studies on the effects of John’s wort on the treatment of depression were examined, it was concluded that
they were effective in the treatment of mild and moderate depression. Even in some studies, they were compared with antidepressants and they were found to be as effective as them. As a result;
St. John's wort is effective in patients with mild to moderate depression symptoms but should be used under the supervision and the permission of a doctor
