Investigation of Physical and Mechanical Properties of Copalit Composite Boards

Abstract

Wood sawdust formed in different sizes during the mowing process, chipboard (YL), directed chipset (OSB) and so on. It is used in different proportions in the production of composite plates. Very high mechanical resistance is not expected in the plates where small wood shavings are produced alone. If these chips are pressed at high pressure and temperature in the mold and their surfaces are covered with decor paper, new composite plates can be produced with high mechanical resistance properties. This study was conducted to determine the physical and mechanical properties needed in furniture engineering design of the new plates called Kopalit. For this purpose, the plates produced from the sawdust of different mixture rates and eastern beech (fagus orientalis L.) was used as examples of experimental examples. In the experiments, the density of composite plates, screw tensile strength, scratch resistance, bending resistance and elasticity module values in bending were determined according to the relevant standards and a systematic database was created for furniture designers.
