Properties of Iron Powder Added Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) Polymer Composite

Öz

In this study; the effect of iron powder on acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) was investigated. Iron powder was added at the rates of 3 - 6 and 9% by volume, and the changes in the physical, mechanical and thermal properties of acrylonitrile butadiene styrene were examined by adding iron powder at different rates. ABS polymer composites melt mixing in twin screw extruder method and then turned into granules. Test samples were molded in the injection machine and modulus of elasticity, tensile & breaking strength, % elongation, Izod notched impact strength, Shore hardness value, density, melt flow index (MFI), thermal distortion temperature (HDT) and Vicat softening temperature tests were performed. In addition, SEM examination was carried out to determine the distribution of iron powders in the ABS matrix. As a result of the tests, with the addition of iron powder; an increase in the elasticity modulus, shore hardness, density, MFI, HDT and Vicat softening temperature values was detected, whereas a decrease was detected in the tensile & breaking strength, % elongation and Izod notched impact strength values. As a result of SEM examination, it was determined that the iron particles were distributed homogeneously.

Demir Tozu Katkılı Akrilonitril Bütadien Stiren (ABS) Polimer Kompozitinin Özellikleri

Öz

Bu çalışmada; demir tozunun akrilonitril bütadien stiren (ABS) üzerindeki etkisi araştırılmıştır. Demir tozu hacimce % 3 - 6 ve 9 oranlarında katılmış ve demir tozunun farklı oranlarda ilavesi ile akrinonitril bütadien stirenin fiziksel, mekanik ve ısısal özelliklerindeki değişimler incelenmiştir. ABS polimer kompozitleri çift vidalı ekstrüderde eriyik karıştırma metoduyla karıştırılmış ve ardından granül haline getirilmiştir. Enjeksiyon makinesinde test numuneleri basılarak elastisite modülü, çekme & kopma mukavemeti, % uzama, Izod çentikli darbe mukavemeti, Shore sertlik değeri, yoğunluk, erime akış indeksi (MFI), ısıl çarpılma sıcaklığı (HDT) ve vicat yumuşama sıcaklığı testleri yapılmıştır. Bunlara ek olarak ABS matrisi içerinde demir tozlarının dağılımlarının tespit etmek SEM incelemesi yapılmıştır. Testler sonucunda demir tozu ilavesiyle; elastisite modülü, shore sertlik, yoğunluk, MFI, HDT ve vicat yumuşama sıcaklık değerlerinde artış buna karşılık çekme & kopma mukavemeti, % uzama ve İzod çentikli darbe mukavemeti değerlerinde düşüş tespit edilmiştir. SEM incelemesi sonucunda demir partiküllerinin homojen dağıldığı tespit edilmiştir.
