Bibliometric Analysis of International Academic Studies on Turkish TV Series

Öz

This article presents a bibliographic analysis of the impact and development of Turkish TV series in the international arena. Turkish TV series are broadcast around the world and attract a great deal of attention. They play an important role not only in the entertainment industry but also in terms of cultural diplomacy and economic benefits. However, the analyses reveal that academic studies on Turkish TV series are insufficient. This study aims to examine the international impact of Turkish TV series through literature review and bibliographic analysis. Journal and book articles indexed in the Web of Science (WoS) database were selected as the sample. The findings show that academic studies on Turkish TV series have a weak network of relationships and the average number of citations remains low despite being indexed in the WoS database. In addition, it was observed that many studies did not include enough methodological information, the bases of the analyses were not clearly stated and the results obtained were not clear. Although there is an increase in the number of studies conducted in parallel with the increasing influence of Turkish TV series in the international arena, it is concluded that more qualified studies are needed.

Türk Dizileri Üzerine Yapılan Uluslararası Akademik Çalışmaların Bibliyometrik Analiz

Öz

Bu makale, Türk dizilerinin uluslararası alandaki etkisini ve gelişimini inceleyen bir bibliyografik analizi sunmaktadır. Türk dizileri, dünya genelinde yayınlanmakta ve büyük ilgi görmektedir. Bu diziler, sadece eğlence sektöründe değil, kültürel diplomasi ve ekonomik faydalar açısından da önemli bir rol oynamaktadır. Ancak, yapılan analizler Türk dizileri hakkında yapılan akademik çalışmaların yetersiz olduğunu ortaya koymaktadır. Bu çalışma, literatür taraması ve bibliyografik analiz yoluyla Türk dizilerinin uluslararası etkisini incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Örneklem olarak, Web of Science (WoS) veri tabanında dizinlenen dergi ve kitap makaleleri seçilmiştir. Elde edilen bulgular, Türk dizileriyle ilgili yapılan akademik çalışmaların zayıf bir ilişki ağına sahip olduğunu ve bu çalışmaların WoS veri tabanında dizinlenmesine rağmen ortalama atıf sayılarının düşük kaldığını göstermektedir. Ayrıca, birçok çalışmada yöntem bilgisine yeterince yer verilmediği, analizlerin dayandığı temellerin açıkça belirtilmediği ve elde edilen sonuçların net olmadığı görülmüştür. Uluslararası alanda Türk dizilerinin etkisinin artmasına paralel olarak yapılan çalışmaların sayısında artış gözlemlense de, daha fazla nitelikli çalışmaya ihtiyaç olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır.
