Hydrogel-based skin protective dressings are frequently preferred for the repair and treatment of an existing problem in the skin, as they provide a moist environment by surrounding the wound, have absorbent properties and accelerate the healing process. The combination of hydrogels with natural product extracts not only increases the existing biological activities, but also it is of great importance in terms of preventing the development of resistance against antimicrobial drugs, shortening the treatment period and reducing the treatment costs. In this study, hydrogels obtained with alginate-agar complex were combined with Aloe vera, Plantago lanceolata and propolis extracts and their potential of effective in acne treatment was investigated by in vitro tests. In line with the findings, it was determined that all of these extracts with natural content formed an inhibition zone on the tested bacteria. The most effective extract was Aloe vera and 30% ethanol content of P. lanceolata in gram-negative bacteria, and Aloe vera gel extract formed more inhibition zones in gram-positive bacteria. It was observed that all hydrogels containing the extract formed large inhibition zones in media containing bacteria. The biocompatibility of the hydrogels was investigated by the WST-1 test and no toxicity was observed. As a conclusion, it is predicted that the obtained natural hydrogels can be effective therapeutic agents in the treatment of acne and maybe infectious skin problems
