Mindful eating, a new concept that has received attention and researched recently, is the practice of enjoying food with understanding and compassion by developing awareness of the relationships between food and our body, our emotions, our mind, and the individual and the environment. Mindful eating intervention studies with adults are numerous and it is observed that this intervention can be effective especially in obesity and eating behaviour in the adult population. Mindfulness-based eating interventions may be more effective than lifestyle interventions. This makes provide promising the mindful eating against obesity. Mindful eating intervention has been studied in children and adolescents in recent years in terms of its feasibility and effectiveness. In terms of mindful eating in children and adolescents, the focus is especially on childhood obesity, eating disorders and eating behaviour. It was observed that different intervention techniques were applied in the studies and there was no single common intervention strategy. In addition, the duration of the interventions and the number of sessions applied are different from each other. In the light of studies, when the effect of mindful eating in children and adolescents is evaluated, the issue has not become clear. In this review, it is aimed to define mindful eating, to evaluate the applicability and effect of mindful eating in children and adolescents.
