ABSTRACT
This research was conducted in a descriptive and cross-sectional manner to evaluate the relationship between fatigue level and spiritual well-being in COPD patients.
The sample of the study consisted of 120 individuals who were treated with a diagnosis of COPD in the Chest Diseases Service of a public hospital in the Southeastern Anatolia Region of Turkey and who agreed to participate in the research. The data were collected face to face using the "Introductory Information Form", "Three-Factor Spiritual Well-Being Scale (SWBS)" and "Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and Asthma Fatigue Scale (CAFS)". CAFS total score average is 45.26±0.65 (min:26, max:57); the total score average of SWBS was determined as 106.83±1.54 (min:64, max:143). A negative and statistically significant correlation was found between CAFS total scores and SWBS total scores (p<0.05).
It was determined that as the fatigue levels of the participants in the study increased, their spiritual well-being levels decreased. It is thought that the results of the research will provide guidance for prevention and treatment solutions to reduce the fatigue level of individuals diagnosed with COPD and will contribute to the literature on the necessity of considering the spiritual aspects of COPD patients.
