Deneyimle Gelen Farkındalık: Yoğun Bakım Hemşirelerinin Deliryumu Erken Tanıma ve Yönetmedeki Rolü

Öz

Amaç: Bu nitel çalışma, yoğun bakım hemşirelerinin deliryumu erken fark etme ve yönetmede deneyim faktörünün etkisini belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır.
Yöntem: Çalışmanın örneklemini genel yoğun bakım, dahiliye yoğun bakım, anestezi yoğun bakım ve cerrahi yoğun bakımda çalışan 12 hemşire oluşturmuştur. Veriler yarı yapılandırılmış bir görüşme formu aracılığı ile Şubat-Mart 2023 tarihlerinde yüz yüze görüşülerek toplanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde içerik analizi yöntemi kullanılmıştır.
Bulgular: Çalışmaya katılan hemşirelerin %91,6’sı kadındır. Hemşirelerin %50’si lisans mezunu olup, %41,6’sı meslekte 10 yıldan fazla çalışmaktadır. Çalışmaya katılan hemşirelerin tamamı deliryumlu hastaya bakım vermiş olup deliryum ile ilgili okul dışında bir eğitim almamıştır. Yapılan içerik analizinden deliryum tanımı, deliryum yönetimi, deliryumlu hasta deneyimi, deliryum farkındalığı, bakımda yaşanan güçlükler, bakımda uygulamalar, bakımda bilgi mi? deneyim mi? olmak üzere yedi tema elde edilmiştir.
Sonuç: Sonuç olarak hemşireler bakımda bilginin önemli olmasına rağmen deneyimin deliryumu yönetmede ve fark etmede daha etkili olduğunu söylemişlerdir.

Awareness Through Experience: The Role of Intensive Care Nurses in Early Recognition and Management of Delirium

Öz

Objective: This qualitative study was conducted to determine the effect of experience factor on early recognition and management of delirium by intensive care nurses.
Methods: The sample of the research consisted of 12 nurses working in general intensive care, internal medicine intensive care, anesthesia intensive care and surgical intensive care. Data were collected through a semi-structured interview form by face-to-face interviews between February and March 2023. Content analysis method was used to analyze the data.
Results: Of the nurses who participated in the research, 91.6% were female. Fifty percent of the nurses were undergraduate graduates and 41.6% had been working in the profession for more than 10 years. All of the nurses participating in the study provided care to patients with delirium and did not receive any education about delirium outside of school. Seven themes were obtained from the content analysis: delirium definition, delirium management, delirium patient experience, delirium awareness, difficulties in care, practices in care, knowledge or experience in care.
Conclusion: As a result, nurses stated that although knowledge is important in care, experience is more effective in managing and recognizing delirium.
