Clinical supervision has generally been described as “a professional relationship and support process by which nurses are assisted to improve their competencies in order to enhance quality of care”. It is a videly discussed concept within nursing literature in the North American and Europian countries. However this issue has not yet been the subject of any article in our country. The aim of this paper is to present an overview of clinical supervision in nursing. Various aspects of the definitions, potential for its success, benefits, components and processes of clinical supervision are explored. Current debates and problematic areas and the need for clinical supervision in nursing are also discussed.

HEMŞİRELİKTE KLİNİK SÜPERVİZYON

Öz

Klinik süpervizyon, genel olarak “hemflirelerin klinik yeterlili¤i art›rmak amac›yla kullan›lan profesyonel bir iliflki, destek süreci” olarak tan›mlanmaktad›r. Bu makalenin amac›, özellikle Kuzey Amerika ve Avrupa ülkelerindeki hemflirelik literatüründe yayg›n olarak tart›fl›lan, ancak ülkemizde henüz konu ile ilgili bir yay›na rastlanmayan, klinik süpervizyon kavram› hakk›nda bilgi sunmakt›r. Makalede klinik süpervizyonun tan›mlar›, gereklili¤i, yararlar›, uygulama süreci, klinik süpervizörün özellikleri, klinik süpervizyonun uygulamas›na yönelik elefltiriler ve baflar› için gerekenler tart›fl›lm›flt›r.
