Yaşlı Hemodiyaliz Hastalarında Mortalite Düzeyi ve Bakım/ Mortality Rate and Care in Elderly Hemodialysis Patients

Öz

Hemodiyaliz tedavisi gören yaşlı bireylerde ölüm oranı genel popülasyona kıyasla kabul edilemez derecede yüksektir. Yaşlı hemodiyaliz hastalarında ölüm riskinin artmasının nedenleri oldukça karmaşıktır. Yaşlılarda son dönem böbrek yetmezliğinin en iyi şekilde nasıl yönetileceğine dair net görüşler bulunmamaktadır. Bu durum, geriatrik popülasyonun genellikle daha zorlu sağlık bakım ihtiyaçlarını karşılaması için daha yüksek sağlık bakım maliyetlerine ve sağlık profesyonelleri açısından ek klinik zorluklara dönüşmektedir. Dolayısıyla bu hastalarda yüksek riskli komplikasyonlara odaklanan, hastane yatışını ve mortalite düzeyini önleme stratejilerinin incelenmesine ihtiyaç vardır. Yaşlılığın mortalite üzerindeki farklı etkisinin anlaşılması, etkili müdahalelerin uyarlanması ve hasta bakımının optimize edilmesi için önemlidir. Kişiselleştirilmiş bakım planları, multidisipliner iş birliği, hasta eğitimi ve bu konuda yapılan araştırmalarla hemşireler ve sağlık hizmeti sağlayıcıları yaşlı bireylerin sonuçlarını iyileştirmek ve yaşam kalitesini artırmak için çabalamalıdır. Yaşlılığın ve bakım sürecinin karmaşık doğası sebebiyle, bu popülasyonda hemodiyalize özgü mortalite riskini incelemek ayrıca önemlidir. Bu derlemede; yaşlılığın doğası, hemodiyaliz tedavisi alan yaşlı bireylerde mortalite sebepleri ve bakım stratejilerine ilişkin ayrıntılar incelenmiştir.

Öz

The mortality rate among elderly individuals undergoing hemodialysis is unacceptably high compared to the general population. The reasons behind the increased risk of death in elderly hemodialysis patients are highly complex. There is a lack of clear consensus on how best to manage end-stage renal disease in the elderly. This situation often leads to higher healthcare costs and additional clinical challenges for healthcare professionals, as the geriatric population generally requires more intensive healthcare services. Therefore, it is essential to investigate strategies focused on preventing high-risk complications, hospital admissions, and mortality rates in these patients. Understanding the distinct impact of aging on mortality is crucial for adapting effective interventions and optimizing patient care. Nurses and healthcare providers should strive to improve outcomes and enhance the quality of life for elderly individuals through personalized care plans, multidisciplinary collaboration, patient education, and ongoing research. Given the complex nature of aging and the care process, it is particularly important to examine the mortality risk specific to hemodialysis in this population. This review explores the nature of aging, the causes of mortality in elderly individuals receiving hemodialysis treatment, and the details of care strategies.
