TURKISH ECONOMY GROWTH NOT INITIATED GROWTH PROBLEM

Öz

When economic growth is experienced, this growth is referred to as the growth that does not reflect the employment rates at all, or the growth that does not create employment as a relative reflection. The purpose of this study is; To test the relationship between growth rates and employment rates in Turkey between the years 1980-2016. In the study, the stationarity of the variables were tested with a single breakpoint unit root test followed by a long-term relationship between variables with Bayer and Hanck (2012) cointegration analysis, and Toda and Yamamoto (1995) causality analysis. Findings show that there is no longterm cointegration relationship and causality between growth rate and unemployment rate. These findings support the existence of a growth that does not create employment in Turkey

TÜRKİYE EKONOMİSİNDE İSTİHDAM YARATMAYAN BÜYÜME SORUNSALI

Öz

Ekonomide büyüme yaşanırken bu büyümenin istihdam oranlarına hiç yansımaması veya göreceli olarak yansıması durumu istihdam yaratmayan büyüme olarak adlandırılmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı; 1980-2016 yılları arasında Türkiye'de büyüme rakamları ile istihdam oranları arasındaki ilişkiyi test etmektir. Çalışmada, değişkenlerin durağanlıkları tek kırılmalı birim kök testi ile test edilmiş ardından değişkenler arasındaki uzun dönem ilişki Bayer ve Hanck (2012) eşbütünleşme analizi yardımıyla incelenmiş, son olarak da Toda ve Yamamoto (1995) nedensellik analizi yapılmıştır. Elde edilen bulgular, büyüme oranı ve işsizlik oranı arasında uzun dönemde bir eş bütünleşme ilişkisinin ve nedenselliğin olmadığını göstermektedir. Bu bulgular Türkiye’de istihdam yaratmayan bir büyüme olgusunun var olduğunu destekler niteliktedir
