The Millennials Rising; The Next Great Generation, written by Neil Howe and William Strauss, is one of the important generational studies about the Y generation. In this study, the authors named the Y generation as 'millennials'. This name was used for the first time in the literature in this work and was introduced to the world of science as a concept. The book is published in English. This book, which consists of 414 pages in total, has three main sections and seventeen sub-titles. The ideas claimed in the text have been tried to be based on newspaper news, magazine archives, statistics and graphics. In addition, the authors interviewed 660 students and 200 teachers in the State of Virginia, USA, specifically for this study. The authors have dealt with the issue in a way that defends the millennial generation. They said that this generation is much better than other generations before it and they have the potential to change the historical course of America. The authors, who focus on the positive features of the millennial generation, tried to eliminate the criticism by arguing that the negativities witnessed in this generation are the problems left by the X generation. The Turkish translation of the work, which has a very fluent and plain language, has not been found. Although the work has an academic structure in general, it appeals to wide audiences thanks to the simplicity of the text.

Neil Howe ve William Strauss tarafından kaleme alınan The Millenals Rising kitabı, Y kuşağı hakkında yapılmış önemli kuşak çalışmalarından biridir. Yazarlar bu çalışmada Y kuşağına ‘milenyum’ adını vermişlerdir. Bu isim literatürde ilk defa bu eserde kullanılmış ve bilim dünyasına bir kavram olarak kazandırılmıştır. Kitap, İngilizce olarak telif edilmiştir. Toplamda 414 sayfadan oluşan bu kitapta üç ana bölüm ve on yedi alt başlık bulunmaktadır. Metinde iddia edilen fikirler gazete haberleri, magazin arşivleri, istatistikler ve grafiklerle temellendirilmeye çalışılmıştır. Ayrıca yazarlar bu çalışma için Amerika’nın Virginia Eyaleti’nde 660 öğrenci ve 200 öğretmenle mülakatlar yapmışlardır. Yazarlar milenyum kuşağını savunan bir tavırla konuyu ele almışlardır. Bu neslin kendinden önceki diğer nesillerden çok daha iyi ve Amerika’nın tarihi seyrini değiştirebilecek potansiyelde olduklarını söylemişlerdir. Milenyum neslinin sürekli olumlu özelliklerine odaklanan yazarlar, bu nesilde şahit olunan olumsuzlukların X kuşağından kalan problemler olduğunu öne sürerek eleştirileri bertaraf etmeye çalışmışlardır. Oldukça akıcı ve sade bir dile sahip olan eserin Türkçe çevirisine rastlanmamıştır. Eser genel itibariyle akademik bir yapıya sahip olsa da metnin yalınlığı sayesinde geniş kitlelere hitap etmektedir.
