POSTMODERNISM AND TRADITION
Öz
Modernity tries to break down everything which it is related to past and irrational. Tradition is accepted that it is chief enemy of modernity as a consept of evoking past. According to modern thinkers, tradition prevent to person who wants to use the mind. Besides, it ignores free will and the mind because it shows person the way how he or she treats and thinks. Modern thought defends to abolish tradition so as to found a new world in which the mind dominates everything. Postmodernists have looked for innovations due to failing modern paradigms, alienation and isolation, congesting art and literature. Tradition is interpreted as a being benefited unique source which it is used to exceed modernity difficulties in postmodern discourse. Postmodernists, who approach values that people lost in modern times with sense of nostalgia, use try to use tradition from all directions. According to postmodernists, it can be overcome modernity that it makes everything monotype such as art, literature, philosophy through polyphony. To interpret tradition which is an unique source can be served to obtain polyphony. The aim of this paper is to investigate what kind of relationship is between postmodernism and tradition.
