This article discusses how the Qur’anic verses included in the latest part of the Surah alLuqman and especially their gaining wide currency as mugayyabat-ı hamse (five unknown) have been interpreted in the historical process. The statements in the verses is regarded as “unseen” in the classical period. Besides, these verses have also been related with the sovereignty of Allah. However in the contemporary period, in the light of certain developments, the prediction of the rain and the “unknown” in the uterus isn’t a mystery anymore. In this case, it’s clear that the current situation contains some problems in terms of hermeneutics and exegetical tradition
