Parion where located to the north of
the Antic Troas Region, is located in the boundaries of the Biga District of
Çanakkale Province, the Kemer Village, and Bodrum Burnu. According to Eusebius,
Parion was founded in BC 709. In the Roman period, Parion reached to its real
importance. Parion continued to maintain its importance in the Byzantine period
as well, and it had been the center of bishop for many years. The baths where
located in the Parion City Center are special structures that social life
continue. Parion Roman Baths, located 70 meters east of the Parion Theater, 150
meters from the beach. As a result of excavations at the Roman Baths of Parion,
it was found a grave to the north of the praefernium section in 2015; a greve
to near the eastern wall of piscinan, a grave to east of the apodyterium
section and a grave to on the surface soil of praefernium in 2017; a grave in
peristyle in 2018. 5 skeletons were removed from the graves that are belonging
to the Byzantine Period. For the paleoanthropological analyzes of the skeletons
that are removed from the graves, cleaning and repairing work were completed,
then, age, sex, pathological conditions and variations were assessed in the laboratory
of the Parion excavation house.
