DOES NEW KEYNESIAN WAGE PHILLIPS CURVE (NKWPC) EXIST IN TURKEY? EVIDENCE FROM ARDL BOUNDS TESTING APPROACH

Öz

The aim of this research is to test the existence of the New Keynesian Wage Phillips Curve (NKWPC) in Turkey. For this purpose, analyzes were made using the ARDL bound testing approach. The research covers the data compiled in the period between 1995: Q1-2019: Q4. Empirical findings indicated that, based on the assumptions of the New Keynesian approach, there is an adverse relationship among the wage inflation and unemployment rate in Turkey. The findings of this research revealed that New Keynesian Wage Phillips Curve could be used by policy makers to design economic policies such as the estimation of future wages and prices and the determination of adjustment rate to the equilibrium in Turkey.

TÜRKİYE’DE YENİ KEYNESYEN ÜCRET PHILLIPS EĞRİSİ GEÇERLİ MİDİR? ARDL SINIR TESTİ YAKLAŞIMINDAN BULGULAR

Öz

Bu araştırmanın amacı, Yeni Keynesyen Ücret Phillips Eğrisi (NKWPC)’nin Türkiye için varlığını test etmektir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda, ARDL sınır testi yaklaşımı tahmin yönteminden faydalanılarak analizler yapılmıştır. Araştırma 1995:Q1-2019:Q4 dönem aralığında derlenen verileri kapsamaktadır. Yeni Keynesyen görüşün varsayımlarına bağlı olarak yapılan analiz bulgularına göre, Türkiye için ücret enflasyonu ile işsizlik oranı arasında anlamlı ve ters yönlü bir ilişki vardır. Bu bulgular ışığında gelecek dönem ücretlerin ve fiyatların tahminlerinde ve yaşanan şoklar sonrasında ekonominin tekrar dengeye gelme hızının tespitinde, Türkiye’deki politika yapıcıların Yeni Keynesyen Ücret Phillips Eğrisinden faydalanarak politika üretebilecekleri sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
