Objective: With the increasing numbers of elderly people, the demand for staff in caregiving for these individuals is also increasing. The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between occupational balance and life satisfaction of care staff working in private nursing homes.
Materials and Methods: 106 care staff working in private nursing homes in Ankara province were included in the study. Demographic characteristics of the participants, such as age, gender, and educational status, were recorded. The occupational balance of participants was evaluated with the Occupational Balance Questionnaire and life satisfaction was evaluated with the Satisfaction with Life Scale. Since the data were not normally distributed, the relationship between the variables was analyzed using Spearman’s Correlation Coefficient.
Results: A moderately positive and significant relationship was found between the occupational balance and life satisfaction of care staff.
Conclusion: With interventions aimed at improving the occupational balance of care staff who deliver long-term institutional care services to elderly individuals, an increase in life satisfaction of these individuals can be provided.
