Background: Os zygomaticum is one of the bones that have
importance in terms of surgery and aesthetics due to the anatomical location in
the face region. The location of the foramen zygomaticofaciale (FZF), foramen
zygomaticoorbitale (FZO), and foramen zygomaticotemporale (FZT) which locate on
os zygomaticum and serve as transition for some neurovascular structures, are
important anatomical structures to be considered for the success of surgical
procedures. The aim of current study was to classify the number of foramens and
via using the obtained morphometric data to determine the safe zone to be used
during surgical interventional procedures.

Material and Methods: The study was conducted on 28 skulls
belonging to the Department of Anatomy, Bursa Uludağ University Faculty of
Medicine. Broken or deformed bones were not included in the study. The numbers
of the foramen were classified and morphometric measurements of foramen
zygomaticofaciale were performed.

Results: In total 39 FZF, 25 FZO and 31 ZT have been
determined. As a result of measurements made for FZF, no statistically
significant difference was observed between right and left sides. The area
where the FZF located mostly was assigned and the safe zone for the
interventional procedures was determined.

Conclusion: We believe that the findings obtained in our
study will be useful for anesthetists and surgeons.
