Tunisian Mahmut Pasha, Mahmud Ibn Iyad, a Tunisian, was a statesman who lived between 1805-1879 and worked as a multazim in Tunisia for twenty years. Multezim is said to be the person who takes over the work of collecting state revenues, Mahmut Pasha from Tunisia, and therefore a tax cutter. He is the vizier of Tunisia; In other words, the Prime Minister Mustafa Haznedar worked during the time. Mustafa Haznedar will serve as prime minister from 1837 to 1873. Tunisian Mahmut Pasha is also a man trusted by Mustafa Haznedar. In this article, Tunisian Mahmut Pasha and his family, who are described as “thief” in the sources and claimed to have made a great fortune with this theft together with Mustafa Haznedar, will be mentioned. In particular, the documents of the Presidential Ottoman Archives will give information about the life of the pasha after his arrival in Istanbul and the situation of his family members. The purpose of this article is to introduce the general description of Tunisian Mahmut Pasha and his family.
