Gazze’nin Doğu Akdeniz’deki doğal gaz rezervleri İsrail işgallerinin temel nedeni olabilir mi?

Öz

Doğu Akdeniz’de zengin doğal gaz kaynaklarına ev sahipliği yapan sahalardan biri Levant Havzası’dır. Bu havzada Gazze Marine 1 ve 2 doğal gaz sahaları Filistin-Gazze’ye aitken Leviathan, Tamar, Dalit, Tanin, Karish ve Mari-B havzaları İsrail’e aittir. Çeşitli girişimleriyle Gazze’nin kendi doğal gaz kaynaklarından yararlanmasını engelleyen İsrail’in bir yandan da dönem dönem gerçekleştirdiği Gazze saldırılarının ve işgallerinin, tamamen veya büyük oranda Gazze’ye ait gaz rezervlerini ele geçirmek istemesiyle ilgili olduğunu savunan analiz ve yorumlar dile getirilmektedir. Bu makalenin konusu ve amacı Gazze’nin doğal gaz kaynaklarının İsrail işgal ve saldırılarının esas nedeni olmadığını, doğal gaz kaynaklarından faydalanmayı engellenmenin yerleşimci kolonyalizm perspektifinden değerlendirilmesi gerektiğini ve İsrail yerleşimci kolonyalizminin esas hedefinin tüm Filistin topraklarını (ve dolayısıyla deniz alanlarını ve doğal kaynaklarını) İsrailleştirme ideali olduğunu dayanaklarıyla ortaya koymaktır. Bu araştırma; Gazze açıklarındaki doğal gazın işletilmesini engellemeyi, İsrail’in Filistinlilerin ellerinde kalan son toprak parçalarında yaşam şartlarını daha da zorlaştırarak bunu bir “gitmeye zorlama” yöntemi olarak kullandığını açıklamakta ve savunmaktadır.

Could the natural gas reserves of Gaza in the Eastern Mediterranean be the key reason for Israeli occupation?

Öz

The Levant Basin in the Eastern Mediterranean contains significant natural gas resources. The Gaza Marine 1-2 fields belong to Palestine-Gaza, while the Leviathan, Tamar, Dalit, Tanin, Karish, Mari-B fields belong to Israel, which has restricted Gaza’s access to its gas resources. Many have argued that Israel’s periodic attacks and invasions of Gaza are entirely or largely motivated by its desire to seize Gaza’s gas. The subject and aim of this study is to demonstrate that Gaza’s gas resources have never been the main reason for Israeli occupation and attacks, that the prevention of Gaza from benefiting from its gas resources must be evaluated from the perspective of settler colonialism, and that the main goal of Israeli settler colonialism is the ideal of Israelization of all Palestinian lands (and maritime zones, natural resources). It argues that Israel’s obstruction of Gaza’s gas use contributes to “forced displacement” by deteriorating living conditions in Palestinian territories.
