A Study on the Habits of Colostrum Use of Dairy Cattle Farm in Narman District of Erzurum Province

Abstract

This study aim that the cattle farms activity indicative in Narman District of Erzurum Province reveal the mistakes in colostrum usage habits and application. For this purpose, data obtained from 175 enterprises with 20 head and more dairy cattle were used. A large proportion of business owners (94.9%) used colostrum and colostrum for two days or more had been identified. It had been found that in enterprises that give colostrum with bucket or bottle, it was mostly in warm temperature (15-30^oC) (58%) and in 6 liters (36%). In the study, while the rate of diarrhea cases was found to be 38.29%, there was a statistically significant relationship between diarrhea cases with colostrum amount (p<0.05). As a result, it is thought that the importance and benefits of providing colostrum with the right time, quantity and quality after calving can be explained to the breeders.

Erzurum İli Narman İlçesi Süt Sığırcılığı İşletmelerinde Kolostrum Kullanım Alışkanlıkları Üzerine Bir Araştırma

Öz

Bu çalışma Erzurum İli Narman İlçesinde faaliyet gösteren sığırcılık işletmelerinin kolostrum kullanım alışkanlıklarını ve uygulamadaki yanlışlıklarını ortaya koymak amacıyla yapılmıştır. Bu amaçla 20 baş ve daha fazla süt sığırına sahip 175 işletmeden elde edilen veriler kullanılmıştır. İşletme sahiplerinin büyük oranda (%94.9) kolostrum kullandığı ve kolostrumun iki gün veya daha fazla süre ile verildiği tespit edilmiştir. Kovadan veya biberonla kolostrum veren işletmelerde çoğunlukla ılık sıcaklıkta (15-30 ^oC) (%58) ve 6 litre verildiği (%36) bulunmuştur. Çalışmada işletmelerde görülen ishal vakası oranı %38.29 iken, ishal vakaları ile verilen kolostrum miktarı arasında istatistiksel olarak önemli bir ilişki bulunmuştur (p<0.05). Sonuç olarak buzağılamanın akabinde doğru zaman, miktar ve kalitede kolostrum verilmesinin önemi ve faydalarının yetiştiricilere kavratılmasıyla buzağı kayıplarının ve diğer problemlerin önüne geçilebileceği düşünülmektedir.
