Tohumculuk Açısından Priming Uygulamalarının Önemi

Öz

Tohumluk kullanımı tarımın başlangıcından bu yana tarımsal faaliyetlerin en temel unsurlarının başında yer almaktadır. Ancak bazı tohumlar çimlenme problemi yaşamakta yada iyi çimlenme ve gelişme gösterebilmek için bazı özel koşullara ihtiyaç duymaktadır. Bu nedenle etkin çimlenme koşullarının sağlanabilmesi için bazı tohumluklar çimlenme öncesinde ön uygulamalara ihtiyaç duyar. Priming adı verilen bu ön tohum uygulamalarının birçok farklı şekli vardır. Bu uygulamalar bitki türüne ve çeşidine göre farklılılar göstermektedir. Bu nedenle özellikle sert tohumluluk özelliği gösteren, çimlenme problemleri yaşanan yada daha küçük tohumlu bitkilerde en iyi çimlenme koşullarını bilinmesi tohumculuk açısından son derece önemlidir. Bu makalede primingin ne demek olduğu ve priming yöntemlerinin yanında bazı özel seçilmiş tohumluklarda uygulanan priming yöntemleri özet olarak verilmiştir.
