The Quantitative Effects of Liquid Vermicompost and Seaweed Practices on the Seedling Quality of Organic Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.)

Öz

In this study, it is aimed to increase both seedling quality and seedling growth process to a level that can combat conventional rivals in organic seedling growing. Using of materials that comply with organic agriculture legislation and contain natural growth regulators, higher quality, healthier and early seedling production is targeted. For this purpose, seaweed extract and liquid vermicompost fertilizer applications were made. In addition, these applications have seen used in trials in different doses and mixtures. In the experiment, the effects of different fertilizer applications on seedling growth were investigated. In the study, 16 different application doses and mixes, including control, were determined on the basis of 3 repetitions. At the end of the seedling development period, the root, stem and leaf dry weights of the tomato plant were determined. Direct and positive effects of seaweed and liquid vermicompost in the individual applications, on seedling growth increase in root, stem and leaf dry weights. According to the results obtained, SW3 application became prominent with the value of 0.445 g in terms of total dry weight of tomato seedlings. It was observed that the highest root weight ratio (RWR) value in seaweed applications was SW3 (0.225). In terms of stem weight ratio (SWR), the highest value in tomato was determined in 0.237 with V3+SW1 application. When leaf weight ratio (LWR), data were examined, the highest value was determined in SW2 (0.614) application. Considering the important criteria in terms of seedling quality, SW3 application was determined as the recommended application.
