Sorgulayıcı Araştırma Odaklı Fen Bilimleri Uygulamaları: Afetten Korunma ve Güvenli Yaşam Ara Disiplini

Öz

Bu çalışmanın amacı ilköğretim 8. Sınıf Fen ve Teknoloji dersinde yer alan “Afetten Korunma ve Güvenli Yaşam” ara disiplinine yönelik kullanılan sorgulama tabanlı öğretim uygulamalarının, öğrencilerin afetlere yönelik tutumlarına ve akademik başarı düzeylerine etkisini belirlemektir. Araştırma, 2012 - 2013 eğitim öğretim yılında İstanbul ilindeki bir ilçede bulunan İlköğretim Okulu’nda öğrenim gören 70 ilköğretim 8.sınıf öğrencisinin katılımıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışmada ön test-son test kontrol gruplu yarı deneysel desen kullanılmış, belirlenen sınıflarda deney ve kontrol grubu oluşturulmuştur. Deney grubunda sorgulama tabanlı öğretim yaklaşımı, kontrol grubunda ise mevcut müfredata uygun öğretim yaklaşımı kullanılmıştır. Veri toplamak amacıyla araştırmacı tarafından belirlenen ara disipline yönelik, “Akademik Başarı Testi” ve “Depreme Yönelik Tutum Testi”, ön test- son test olarak, deprem yaşantısına yönelik “Kişisel Bilgi Formu” ve “Sorgulayıcı Öğrenme Becerileri Algısı Ölçeği” ise ön test olarak uygulanmıştır. Analizler için bağımlı ve bağımsız gruplar için t-testi ile Pearson Korelasyon Katsayısı kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre, sorgulama tabanlı öğrenme yaklaşımına göre öğrenim gören deney grubu öğrencileri ile mevcut müfredat programına uygun öğretim yaklaşımıyla öğrenim gören kontrol grubu öğrencilerinin “Afetten Korunma ve Güvenli Yaşam” ara disiplini akademik başarı son test başarı puanları arasında deney grubu lehine istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılık olduğu görülmüştür. Uygulama gruplarının depreme yönelik tutum son test puanlarında ise aynı şekilde deney grubu lehine anlamlı bir farklılık olduğu belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca deney grubu ve kontrol grubu öğrencilerinin Akademik Başarı son testi ile Depreme Yönelik Tutum deprem tutum son testi puanları arasında orta düzeyde pozitif bir ilişki olduğu ancak anlamlı olmadığı saptanmıştır.

Inquiry - based science practices: Disaster prevention and safe living cross curriculum disciplines

This study aims to determine impact of Inquiry-based teaching practices, which are used for “Disaster Prevention and Safe Living Cross” Curriculum in Disciplines the 8th grade science and technology lessoncourse, on students’ attitudes towards disasters and their academic standingachievement. The research is carried out with the participation of 70 eight grade students studying in Istanbul in the academic year 2012-2013 academic year. Pretest-posttest quasi-experimental design with control group is used in the study and experiment and control groups are formed in classes designated. While inquiry-based teaching approach is used for the experiment group, current and ancurriculum is defined by Ministry of National Education is used approach that is suitable for the current curcilium is used for for the control group. Data is collected “from “Academic Achievement Test”, “Earthquake Attitudes Test” are as a applied as pretest-posttest, in addition for the Cross Curriculum Disciplines determined by the researcher and “Personal Information Form” and “Inquiry Learning Skills Perception Scale” applied are appliedbasas a pretestt in order to gather data t- test and pearson correlation coefficient are used for dependent and independent groups in analyses. Acording to Rresults of research showed that it is seen that there is a statistically significant difference to the favor of experiment group according group according to the posttest resultsgrades. Between academic success pretest-posttest success grades of students from experiment group, who are taught according to inquiry-based learning approach and pretest-posttest success grades of students from control group in “Disaster Prevention and Safe Living” Cross Curriculum Disciplines. It is also determined that there is a significant difference in favor of experiment group in pretest-posttest results grades of practice groupsof for Earthquake Attitudes Testattitudes towards earthquakes. Also, there is a medium-level positive relationship between grades Academic Achievement Test and Earthquake Attitudes Test in terms of of academic knowledge posttest results and earthquake attitude posttest of students from experiment group and control group, but this relationship is not significant.
