A SWOT Analysis on Halal Medical Tourism Market in Türkiye

Öz

Human beings' search for healing is as old as human history, but it is also a very current human behavior. Individuals who exhibit economic human behavior in all areas related to their life continue to search for benefits in all areas in order to achieve their own interests or get rid of situations that negatively affect their life. The search for health comes at the beginning of this search, and the fact that the life of an unhealthy person is meaningless is an issue that is emphasized by society with importance. Here, the journey of a human being from the land where he lives to another area in order to restore, develop and improve their health is called "Health Tourism", which means tourism made for health. The most important component of health tourism, which has many dimensions, is “Medical Tourism”. Medical tourism journey, which has a large economic market worldwide, diversifies due to different patient expectations, demographic characteristics, cultural reasons and psycho-social factors. One of this diversity is the field of "Halal Medical Tourism", which has a niche feature in the market. The concept of halal is a theological concept that mostly coincides with people's religious values. At the same time, this concept is a concept that has the sanctioning power that applies to every aspect of the lives of people belonging to a religion. For this reason, people also want to use service provision and health product in accordance with Islamic conditions when requesting health services. This situation pushes people to seek halal health services. In this study; It is aimed to conduct a SWOT analysis of Türkiye's Halal Medical Tourism market by emphasizing the importance of Halal Medical Tourism in the provision of health services or use of health products that people receive.
