A Study On The Using Of Social Media Applications Of Social Studies Teacher Candidates

Öz

Social media applications are acknowledged to be the most important means of communication and sharing in Today when fact of globalization extremely widespread. These user-based applications are the most popular applications of globalization that bring together masses and people, and interact with each other. As well as the fact that it is used in all parts of the society, these applications of the most popular among young people it is also important how and why are used. This study was conducted to determine how and how much Social Studies teacher candidates use social media applications. This study was carried out in 2017 with 202 teacher candidates who have been studying in Karadeniz Technical University Fatih Education Faculty Social Sciences Education Department. This study is a descriptive study and a questionnaire prepared by researchers was used to collect data in the research. The data obtained in the study were analyzed by SPSS program and presented as frequency and percentage tables. The findings are discussed in comparison with other researches made on the same subject. As a result of the study, it was determined that all of the prospective teachers used social media applications mostly via smartphones and computers at least two hours in a day and using the mostly Instagram application. It is determined that they use these applications most for entertainment purposes and in their educational life; they mostly used to do the homework
