This descriptive study was carried out to determine surgical nurses' perspectives and attitudes towards elderly patients. The study sample consisted of 206 surgical nurses who voluntarily accepted to participate in the study. The data of the study were collected using the Measure of Elderliness Attitude and UCLA Geriatric Attitude Scale via “Surveey” online survey system. Descriptive statistics, one-way analysis of variance (Anova), Independent Groups T Test and Spearman correlation analysis were used to analyze the data. It was determined that the mean scores of the nurses from the Measure of Elderliness Attitude and UCLA Geriatric Attitude Scale were 40.7±6.6 and 49.6±6.3, respectively. It was detected that there is a weak positive relationship (r=0.286, p <0.0001) between the perspectives and attitude towards elderly patients of the surgical nurses included in the study. In conclusion, it was determined that surgical nurses' perspectives and attitudes towards the elderly were positive. In order to maintain a positive perspective and attitude towards the elderly, it is recommended that give a place to elderly patient care with detail in undergraduate, graduate, orientation and in-service training programs.
