The Mediating Role of Intolerance of Uncertainty in the Effect of Job Finding Anxiety on Academic Resilience Among Sports Sciences Students

Öz

This study was conducted to examine the mediating role of intolerance of uncertainty in the effect of job search anxiety on academic perseverance among students in the Faculty of Sports Sciences. The research was designed within the framework of the correlational survey model, one of the quantitative research approaches, and a total of 340 students participated in the study, including 112 female and 228 male students. The Sport Science Students' Job Search Anxiety Scale, Academic Perseverance Scale, and Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale were used in the data collection process. Before proceeding to the analyses, missing data and outlier checks were performed on the data; normality assumptions and descriptive statistics were evaluated. To test the validity of the measurement model, confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was performed using the AMOS 21 program, and the goodness-of-fit indices for the scales were examined. Pearson correlation analysis was applied to determine the relationships between variables; Bootstrap-based regression analyses were used to test mediating effects. In this context, analyses were conducted using SPSS 25 software and the PROCESS Macro (Model 4) developed by Hayes (2022). The findings revealed that there was no significant relationship between job search anxiety and academic perseverance; however, there were positive and low-level significant relationships between intolerance of uncertainty and academic perseverance, and between intolerance of uncertainty and job search anxiety. Finally, it was determined that intolerance of uncertainty played a mediating role in the effect of job search anxiety on academic perseverance.

Spor Bilimleri Fakültesi Öğrencilerinde İş Bulma Kaygısının Akademik Yılmazlığa Etkisinde Belirsizliğe Tahammülsüzlüğün Aracı Rolü

Öz

Bu araştırma spor bilimleri fakültesi öğrencilerinde iş bulma kaygısının akademik yılmazlığa etkisinde belirsizliğe tahammülün aracı rolünün belirlenmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırma, nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden ilişkisel tarama modeli kullanılarak tasarlanmış olup, 112 kadın ve 228 erkek olmak üzere toplamda 340 öğrenci araştırmaya katılmıştır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak; Spor Bilimleri Öğrencilerinin İş Bulma Kaygısı Ölçeği, Akademik Yılmazlık Ölçeği ve Belirsizliğe Tahammülsüzlük Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizinden önce uç değer, kayıp veri analizleri ile normallik testleri ve tanımlayıcı analizler yapılmıştır. Ölçüm modelinin geçerliliğini test etmek amacıyla AMOS 21 programı aracılığıyla doğrulayıcı faktör analizi (DFA) yapılmış ve ölçeklerin uyum iyiliği değerleri kontrol edilmiştir. Hipotezlerin sınanmasında ise pearson korelasyon testi ile Bootstrap yöntemi temel alınan regresyon analizleri uygulanmıştır. Ayrıca, SPSS 25 programı ve Hayes (2022) tarafından geliştirilen Process Macro kullanılarak (Model 4) test edilmiştir. Yapılan analizler neticesinde İş Bulma Kaygısı ile Akademik Yılmazlık arasında anlamlı ilişki olmadığı, Belirsizliğe Tahammülsüzlük ile Akademik Yılmazlık arasında pozitif, Belirsizliğe Tahammülsüzlük ile İş Bulma Kaygısı arasında pozitif yönlü düşük düzeyde anlamlı ilişki olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Son olarak, iş bulma kaygısının akademik yılmazlık üzerindeki etkisinde belirsizliğe tahammülün önemli bir aracılık işlevi olduğu saptanmıştır.
