The purpose of this research is to examine the relationship between 21st century skills and competitive styles of preschool children. The study was carried out as a relational survey study within the framework of quantitative research methods. The research sample included 358 preschool children (173 female, 185 male) between 5-6 years old, from eight public kindergartens. The data were collected using the Personal Information Form, the 21st Century Skills Scale for 5-6 Year Old Children (DAY-2), and the Preschool Competition Scale. The findings emphasize that there is a reciprocal relationship between 21st century skills and competitive styles. It was also revealed that children's 21st century skills differ significantly according to family income level, duration of preschool education, mother's employment status and father's occupation group. It was found that children from upper- and middle- income families had higher scores than those from low-income families. Similarly, it was observed that children in their second year of preschool scored higher than those in their first year. Moreover, children with employed mothers and those with fathers working in the public sector had significantly higher scores than their peers in other groups. It has been observed that increasing task-oriented competition scores positively predict children's learning and innovation skills, life and career skills, and information, media, and technology skills. Further research is recommended to examine these dynamics in different contexts and to better understand competition styles in early childhood education.
