This article examines the role of playwork practices and playworkers in enriching children's free play experiences and the importance of play policy development in Europe, particularly in countries such as England, Northern Ireland, and Scotland. It highlights the responsibility of playworkers to create environments that allow children to play freely and creatively without adult intervention. It is emphasized that in these countries, the right to play is legally protected and steps are being taken towards the professionalization of playwork as a career. The history and origins of playwork trace back to the adventure playgrounds established in England after World War II. The significance of playwork practices in defending children's right to play and fostering a culture of play in Europe is discussed. It also points out that playworkers respect children's play processes and enhance their creativity and imagination. The situation in Türkiye is illustrated with examples of projects involving a limited number of playworkers, and steps needed to develop a play policy in Türkiye are outlined. It is emphasized that the number of projects reflecting the foundation and philosophy of playwork in Türkiye needs to be increased, and that local and governments should collaborate to develop policies that protect and support children's right to play. The importance of education and awareness programs to promote and spread playwork as a profession is highlighted. In conclusion, the study explains the positive effects of playwork and play policies on children's healthy development, social skills, and overall well-being, and advocates for the widespread implementation of such practices.
