BİRİNCİ ROMA-SASANİ SAVAŞI

Parth İmparatorluğu’nun 224 yılında yıkılarak Ardeşir liderliğinde Sasani hakimiyetinin tesis edilmesi Doğu topraklarındaki egemenlik mücadelesinde güç dengelerinin değiştiği bir dönemdir. Bu dönem aynı zamanda Pers İmparatorluğu ideali ile yola çıkan Sasaniler ve Roma arasındaki rekabetin başlamasına sebep olan bir dönüm noktası olmuştur. Sasani İmparatorluğu, 651 yılındaki yıkılışına kadar Roma’nın Doğu’daki en büyük rakibi olarak tarih sahnesinde var olmuştur. Dönemin iki büyük gücü arasındaki ilişkiler zaman zaman diplomatik temaslarla fakat çoğunlukla düşmanca devam etmiştir. Bu iki devlet arasındaki ilişkilerin başladığı dönemde Roma tahtında Severus hanedanının son hükümdarı Severus Alexander bulunmaktaydı. Severus Alexander’ın Doğu’daki değişime karşı izlediği politika aslında Roma’nın bundan sonra Doğu’daki gücünün nasıl devam edeceğini ortaya koyması açısından önemlidir. Bu çalışmanın amacı Roma’nın yıkamadığı Parthların Sasani hanedanı tarafından yıkılmasıyla Doğu’nun ve Batı’nın iki rakip gücü arasında meydana gelen değişimi ve imparator Severus Alexander döneminde yaşanan ilk Roma-Sasani savaşının bu rekabetteki önemini ortaya koymaktır.

The collapse of the Parthian Empire in 224 and the establishment of Sassanid rule under the leadership of Ardashir was a decisive period in which the balance of power changed in the struggle for sovereignty in the eastern lands. This period was also a turning point that started the rivalry between the Rome and Sassanids, who set out with the ideal of the Persian Empire. The Sassanid Empire existed on the stage of history as Rome's greatest rival in the East until its collapse in 651. Relations between the two great powers of the period continued from time to time with diplomatic contacts, but mostly hostile. At the time when relations between these two states began, Severus Alexander, the last ruler of the Severan dynasty, was on the Roman throne. The policy followed by Severus Alexander against the change in the East is actually important in terms of revealing how Rome's power in the east will continue from now on. The aim of this study is to reveal the change that took place between the two rival powers of the East and the West with the destruction of the Parthians, which Rome could not destroy, by the Sassanids, and the first Roman-Sasanian war that took place during the reign of Emperor Severus Alexander.
