Hybrid Image Aesthetics in Motion Graphics

Öz

The aesthetics of an image plays a vital role in enhancing communication by mobilizing the audience. Since the late 1990s, the visual aesthetics of communication have become increasingly digitalized globally. With the rise of media technologies, screens have permeated nearly all areas of everyday life, reshaping how people see, interact, and communicate. In the field of graphic design, the use of digital software has enabled new possibilities for creating visual content in digital environments. The understanding of graphic design, once limited to two-dimensional and printed products, has evolved with the interaction of motion, making dynamic designs possible. Motion graphics, an important component in contemporary culture, have brought dynamism to the field of graphic design through screen-based media. This research explores the issue of how the hybrid image aesthetics – created through the use of diverse materials, tools, and techniques in contemporary digital productions – can be analyzed within the context of motion graphics. The study aims to examine the hybrid aesthetics of graphic design products and their contribution to the production of visual culture through selected examples. A qualitative analysis approach was employed, using visual analysis methods and purposive sampling to examine the subject in depth. The results showed that hybrid image aesthetics makes the design process more flexible. The basic principles of design can be applied to motion-based works on screen by expanding the boundaries of the two-dimensional surface in perception. Thus, “change” emerged as a distinct principle that strengthens communication within design projects. With the contribution of analog approaches, the unity established with digital production techniques, combined with movement, offered language diversity in the works. Therefore, in contemporary practice, the hybrid image aesthetics in motion graphics is encountered as an alternative approach, enriching graphic design studies by utilizing various screen-based digital skills and merging images produced using different techniques.

Hareketli Grafiklerde Hibrit Görüntü Estetiği

Öz

Görüntünün estetiği izleyici üzerindeki harekete geçirici etkisiyle iletişimin sağlanmasına yardımcı olmaktadır. Dünyada iletişim biçiminin görsel estetiği 1990’lı yılların sonlarından itibaren giderek dijitalleşmiştir.  Çağdaş alanın boş zamanla kurgulanmasıyla ekranlar hayatın her alanına yerleşmiş, medya teknolojilerinin de gelişimiyle görme biçimlerini etkileyerek insanlar arasındaki iletişim ve etkileşim biçimlerini değiştirmiştir. Grafik tasarımda da yazılımlar sayesinde dijital ortamda tasarımlar üretilmeye başlanmıştır. İki boyutlu ve basılı ürünler sunan grafik tasarım anlayışı değişmiş, tasarımların içine hareket unsurunun eklenmesi olanaklı hale gelmiştir. Çağdaş kültürde önemli bir yere sahip olan hareketli grafikler grafik tasarım alanına ekranlar aracılığıyla dinamizm getirmiştir. Bu araştırmanın problemi günümüzün dijital üretimlerindeki farklı materyallerin, araçların ve tekniklerin kullanılmasıyla oluşan hibrit görüntü estetiğinin hareketli grafikler bağlamında nasıl ele alınabileceğidir. Özellikle araştırmada üzerinde detaylıca düşünülmüş uygulamaların alışılmadık olmayanı ortaya koyuşu hibrit estetik bağlamında öne sürülmüştür. Makalenin amacı grafik tasarım ürünlerinin hibrit estetiğini ve görsel kültür üretimine katkısını örnekler üzerinden incelemektir. Amaçlı örnekleme ile ele alınan konuda görsel analiz yöntemi kullanılmış nitel analiz yaklaşımı uygulanmıştır. Sunulan literatür ile elde edilen bulguların sonucunda hibrit görüntü estetiğinin tasarım sürecini daha esnek hale getirdiği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Algıdaki iki boyutlu yüzeyin sınırları genişletilerek tasarımın temel ilkeleri ekrandaki hareket tabanlı çalışmalara uygulanabilmektedir. Böylece tasarımlarda gerçekleşen “değişim” ile projelerde iletişimi güçlendiren ayrı bir ilke olarak karşılaşılmıştır. Analog yaklaşımların da katkısıyla dijital üretim teknikleri ile kurulan birliktelik hareketle birleşerek çalışmalarda dil çeşitliliği sunmaktadır. Dolayısıyla günümüzde hareketli grafiklerdeki hibrit görüntü estetiğiyle, kimi zaman ekran tabanlı farklı dijital becerilerin kullanılması kimi zaman da faklı tekniklerle üretilen imgeleri bir araya getirmesi açısından grafik tasarım çalışmalarını zenginleştiren alternatif bir yaklaşım olarak karşılaşılmaktadır.
