When considering the Jewish types that were the subject of European literature, comes to mind first examples was famous for his negative qualities. Herein it can be said to be effective in terms of the negative view of Jews of European society in various periods, especially in the Middle Ages. Religious prejudices and discriminations against the Jews perpetuated not only in the oral traditions of the people, but also written literature as well, from the medieval tendency to associate the jew with the devil to the more modern literary convention of the jewish pawnbroker. According to this, the negative stereotype of a mythical Jew, shows the its impact on many of the negative images and themes of Jews in modern literature clearly.. It is not possible to assess the whole of Western literature, but an inference can be made about a standard Jewish type through the Works of Schiller, Marlow, Shakespeare and Dickens. It is clear that writers who create characters with similar negative qualities are not independent of historical, social and political contexts. In this context, the study aims to examine the Jewish character reflected in the literature by a historical method that takes into account the circumstances of the period in which the studied works.
