The Effects of Flexıbılıty And Short Physıcal Performance on Balance in The Elderly
Abstract
The aim of this study was effects of flexibility and short
physical performance on balance in the elderly. 188 elderly individuals aged 65
and over years were recruited for the study. The cognitive functions were
assessed by Standardized Mini Mental Test,
balance was assessed by Berg Balance Scale (BBS), physical capacity by
Time up and go test (TUG), and short-term performances were assessed by Short
Physical Performance Test (SPPT). In the
statistical analyses that there was a negative relation between age and BDÖ, SPPT and TUG values. With there was a positive relation between SPPT and height, SPPT and body right and left lateral flexion
flexibility test and SPPT and balance values. Our results showed that physical performance is very important for the
realization of stability and flexibility in the elderly. We need to take part
in elderly rehabilitation of the applications for the protection and improvement
of body flekxibility and balance.
