Issues and Approaches in Digital Religion Studies
Abstract
The fact that internet and mobile communication technologies are inextricably intertwined with social life has enabled religion to expand more in digital space. At this point, a new field of interdisciplinary research has emerged, which deals with the interaction of religion/religions with digital media, and the changing perception of religion and practices in the context of this interaction called “digital religion researches”. In this article, paradigm changes, main topics, methodological approaches and techniques used in the development process of digital religion researches are examined. As a result of the analysis, limitations and deficiencies in the research field of digital religion which is a mature issue in the world, but a red-hot issue in Turkey has tried to be determined.
