Greimas talks about his choice of the French language in relation to Flaubert’s
“writing of steel.” Similarly, the conceptual and analytical edifice of Structural
Semantics gives a materiality to the form of content that can also be called “of
steel”. We will question this material sensitivity which commands the scientific
reconstruction of semantism, and we will consider it as a poetic. In fact, this
approach sets free the interpretive potentialities of the text from their enclaves of
essence, making them strictly descriptive while assuming their inevitable role of
ellipsis and imperfection. On this basis and within the framework of Structural
Semantics, we will examine the passage, from analytic construction to literary
expression and, in particular, to “L’imaginaire de Bernanos” studied by Tahsin
Yücel.
