SİSTEMİK LUPUS ERİTEMATOZUS ETYOPATOGENEZİNDE VİRÜSLERİN ROLÜ

Öz

Sistemik lupus eritematozus (SLE) çok sayıda otoantikor ve farklı klinik tablolarla karakterize, kronik, inflamatuvar otoimmün bir hastalıktır. İnfeksiyon ajanlarından virüslerin SLE patogenezinde çevresel tetikleyici etkenler olabilecekleri öne sürülmüş, konağın immün sistemi ile olan ilişkisi ve şimdiye kadar yapılan klinik ve laboratuvar çalışmalarda elde edilen kanıtlar nedeniyle de Epstein Barr virüs (EBV) bu virüslerin en çok ilgi çekeni olmuştur. EBV infeksiyonunun tüm dünyada yaygın olması, EBV’nin infeksiyondan sonra yaşam boyu konakta varlığını sürdürebilmesi ve bağışıklık sistemini uyaran sürekli bir kaynak oluşturması EBV’nin SLE gelişimi için risk oluşturan özelliklerinden başlıcaları olarak ileri sürülmektedir. Bu yazıda virüslerin otoimmünite gelişimindeki rolleri ve SLE-EBV ilişkisi şimdiye kadar yapılan önemli çalışmalar ışığında özetlenmiştir.
