The feeling of moving and living together with humanity's existence and the sharing of common space that started with the transition to settled life formed the basis of the concept of public space. When we look at the expressions included in the idea of public space, definitions such as common living, common sharing, and common interaction area are encountered. When considered as a process, this common interaction area has a constantly dynamic structure and includes different ways of thinking, perspectives, and approaches. When public space is examined in terms of art actions and activities, the effect of art on reaching a larger mass of people is also taken into consideration. In addition to evaluating art from this aspect, works that can only find an audience in galleries and exhibition halls will appeal to a specific audience while supporting the idea of making art in public spaces will bring a different and radical change in the work-audience axis. It was evaluated that the idea of removing art from galleries and exhibition halls and bringing it to more audiences also suggests a different exhibition and gallery idea. The spread of art to the grassroots in urban culture and its meeting with people from all walks of life and professions also answer the dilemma of whether art is for art or people.
The idea that all kinds of operational practices and activities carried out in public spaces support the city's identity creation and also create a memory of the mass of people who share those spaces is examined. In this context, the necessity of works of art and their applications in these areas, their effects, positive results, and their benefits at regional and national levels are mentioned. The positive impact on the human factor that forms the city is also included, along with the fact that cities do not only consist of buildings, streets, avenues, or parks and that each city needs images, works, visual textures, or signs that are integrated with itself. Among the essential dynamics of cities, the human factor needs to foster a sense of belonging to the physical environment in which individuals live in the city-human, human-city dichotomy. Images and visual values that make it easier for people to feel a sense of belonging to their city can be easily imparted through art practices.
In this study, problems encountered before and after the application of artistic ceramic panels in common areas, which are called public spaces, and solution suggestions and suggestions regarding conservation are included. Practicing art outdoors brings with it many problems along with meteorological factors. When we look at these problems, rapid falling and rising temperature differences, physical and chemical factors such as rain, snow, and freeze, failure to rehabilitate the back side of the application surface, failure to provide front surfaces suitable for installation, and structural and human-caused problems are observed. In this study, the reasons for the emergence of all these and similar problems are expressed, and suggestions for their solution are listed. In addition, solutions to the issues that could not be calculated in advance or that occurred at that time during the applications were also included, and suggestions were made.
Performing artistic applications on large scales in public spaces and outdoors are actions that require knowledge, skills, techniques, and coordination. Implementing the applications exemplified in this study provides important ideas as a reference for students who are interested in art or studying the subject at fine arts universities. Expressing the problems encountered in such artistic practices will be a step for those who will practice to create some predictions before starting work. It may cause the solution suggestions expressed in the study to be expanded, additions made, and different perspectives gained.
Incorporating art into the urban fabric is important in creating spaces where artists can express their styles and artistic expression languages. Artists, who have an important place in the representation of art, also have an essential place in the development of art and cultural texture in urban culture. They are important dynamics in developing and enriching urban culture and its transfer to the future. The artist's artistic applications to the urban fabric will contribute significantly to the identity and promotion of the city at national and international levels, as well as to intercultural interaction and cultural transfer.
İnsanlığın var oluş ve yaşam serüvenine bakıldığında, birlikte yaşamaya yönelik bir çaba görülür. Bu çabanın altındaki ana fikir, beraber ve birlikte yaşama dâhil olmak, ortak paylaşımlar ve ortak korunma gücüne sahip olmaktan geçmektedir. Bu düşünceler sonucunda insanlığın ortak yaşama ve eylemlerini gerçekleştirdiği, şehir dediğimiz karmaşık yapılar karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Şehri oluşturan tüm enstrümanlar içerisinde, mimari doku, bu anlamda en önemli bölümü oluşturmaktadır. Kamusal alanda var olan tüm bina ve alanlar insanların ortak kullanım alanı dediğimiz olgu çerçevesinde birlikte kullanıma olanak sağlaması, eşit miktarda paylaşımı itibari ile sosyalleşmenin ve etkileşiminde merkezinde yer almaktadır. Kamusal alanda yapılan sanatsal aktiviteler aynı zamanda kentin belleğini de doğrudan etkilemektedir. Bu durumda bir sonraki aşama sanatsal ifadeler ve aktiviteler şehrin kimlik kazanmasında, ulusal ve uluslararası düzeyde kendinden söz ettiren karakteristik özelliklere sahip bir yapıya dönüşmesini sağlayacaktır.
Bu çalışmamızda kamusal alan ve bu alanlardaki sanat aktivitelerinin ortaya çıkışını, yine bu alanlarda sanat eserinin gerekliliği, etkileri, olumlu sonuçları, bölgesel ve ulusal düzeyde faydaları anlatılmıştır. Kamusal alanda yapılan projelerde ve uygulamalarda uygulama esnasında, öncesinde ve sonrasında karşılaşılan problem ve aksaklıklara değinilerek çözüm önerilerine de yer verilmiştir. Bununla birlikte uygulanan artistik seramik pano örneklerine yer verilmektedir.
