Yapraklı Bazalt Sütunları’nın (Siverek) Jeomiras Açısından İncelenmesi

Geosites are areas that must be protected and passed on to future generations. They form the core value of geoparks and the foundation of geotourism. It is very important to determine whether a geological or geomorphological feature in any area is truly a geosite, based on objective criteria. Identifying potential geosites in an area is crucial for evaluating its geopark and geotourism potential. This study aims to investigate the formation of basalt columns recently discovered near Yapraklı Neighborhood in Siverek District of Şanlıurfa Province, and to assess their importance in terms of nature conservation, geotourism, and geoheritage. In this study, the Yapraklı (Siverek) basalt columns were examined on site. Their geographical locations, formation conditions, physical characteristics, and environmental features were evaluated. Using the Preliminary Geosite Assessment Model (GAM) method, their scientific, aesthetic, conservation, and usage values were analyzed. The potential of the columns to be considered geosites was revealed, and recommendations were made for their protection strategy. As a result of the analysis, it was concluded that the columns are a potential geosite of regional importance. They have significant value for education, science, scenery, and landscape, and therefore must be strictly protected.

Jeositler korunup gelecek kuşaklara aktarılması gereken alanlar olup jeoparkların en temel kaynak değerini ve Jeoturizmin temelini teşkil ederler. Herhangi bir alanda bulunan jeolojik - jeomorfolojik bir olgunun gerçek anlamda jeosit olup olmadığının belirlenmesi bunun objektif kriterler çerçevesinde yapılması, başka bir ifade ile bir alanda var olan potansiyel jeositlerin belirlenmesi, o alanın jeopark ve Jeoturizm potansiyelinin belirlenmesi açısından büyük önem arz etmektedir. Bu çalışmada Şanlıurfa İli Siverek İlçesi Yapraklı Mahallesi yakınlarında yakın zamanda bulunan bazalt sütunlarının oluşumu, doğa koruma, jeoturizm ve jeomiras açısından öneminin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışma kapsamında Yapraklı (Siverek) bazalt sütunları yerinde incelenmiş, bu yapıların coğrafi konumları, oluşum koşulları, fiziksel durumları ve çevresel özellikleri değerlendirilmiştir. Söz konusunu sütunların, GAM (Preliminary Geosite Assessment Model) yöntemi aracılığıyla bilimsel, estetik, koruma ve kullanım açısından önemleri analitik olarak analiz edilerek, jeosit statüsü açısından taşıdıkları potansiyel ortaya konmuş, alanın korunma stratejisine yönelik öneriler getirilmiştir. Analiz sonucunda sütunların bölgesel düzeyde öneme sahip potansiyel bir jeosit olduğu, eğitim, bilim, genel görünüm (manzara) açısından öneme sahip olan sütunların mutlak surette koruma altına alınması gerektiği sonucuna varılmıştır.
