Objective: One out of five children in Turkey is assumed to have a developmental delay or disability. Early identification of these children is very important for early intervention. Pediatricians stand in a unique position regarding early identification of developmental issues. The aim of this research is to determine the attitude and behaviors of pediatricians towards early detection of developmental delays and to describe the expectation of parents on this issue. Material and Methods: Only 29 % of the pediatricians said that they had been using developmental screening tests. Developmental screening test was the least used method for developmental. Results: Only 29 % of the pediatricians said that they were using developmental screening tests. Developmental screening test was the least used method for developmental follow-up. Conclusion: Project studies should be performed concerning routine use of screening tests for developmental follow-ups by pediatricians, new parent-reported screening tests should be introduced for use in our country, and counselling services should be offered for improvement of children’s health
